Kent County Council is seeking to appoint a Public Rights of Way Officer to join the busy East Kent PROW Team, based in East Brabourne.

Have you ever considered working in Kent? Known as the garden of England for good reason, with its beautiful, historic and varied landscapes, idyllic villages and diverse towns, Kent has a lot to offer. On the doorstep of mainland Europe you are only 45 minutes away from enjoying a coffee and croissant in France, or of course popping into London to catch a show!

With over 6700km of public rights of way, Kent County Council manages the largest network in the country. It also has an excellent national reputation in service delivery and forward thinking, dynamic new initiatives. The Countryside Access Service is looking for a new officer to join them to deliver capital maintenance programmes across the East of the county. A substantial proportion of the network sits within the Kent Downs and High Weald Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The successful applicant will prepare and supervise programmes of capital works countywide. You will work closely with landowners, local councils and other agencies to secure all necessary consents and permissions.

The post carries a high-volume workload. You will be able to juggle numerous competing priorities and adapt readily to the use of new technology. You will be a team player and be competent to NVQ3 level in civil engineering/ contract management/ estate management or be able to demonstrate the same level of competency in a similar related area. The post also requires a high level of motivation, a good knowledge of rights of way law and practice and excellent organisational and communication skills.

Interviews to be held 16th March 2010.
